April 26, 2010 30 Hour Famine Experience

Today, 25,000 kids under the age of 5 will die - most of them from preventable causes like hunger, poverty, and disease. 13, 000 kids under age 5 will die just from causes related to hunger. That's one child every seven seconds. These kids are dying from completely preventable causes. This fact is the reason that the SOAR District NYI gathered together to fight  hunger Friday and Saturday April 24 & 25. Drew Warwick organized an awesome educational famine event. Linda Huggins spoke on the mercy of Jesus Christ and the balance of judgement and love in Christ's mercy. Robert Click and several SNU students led worship for the evening. And a number of youth leaders helped as tribe leaders and juice break organizers as we ventured through the world of Ethiopia and considered their lives and situations. We enjoyed serving at the Area 10 Special Olympics meet at Bryant High School and ended the fun-filled famine event with a huge breakfast cooked by Gary Sartin and his crew from Springlake Nazarene.

April 5, 2010 30 Hour Famine - District Wide

The District-Wide 30 Hour Famine is only a few weeks away. I hope that you and your church are getting excited about raising funds for hungry children and getting ready for an awesome all night event at Calvary Nazarene. The speaker for the 30 Hour Famine event is Linda Huggins. Southern Nazarene University will be providing the event band. And Drew Warwick, youth pastor at Springlake Nazarene, is directing the event. Don't miss this District-Wide 30 Hour Famine Experience.
